(Closure of Woodley Theatre) Sorry to hear this, I was a member from late 50s, very involved in building original theatre.
And running in early years. Never much acting but set building and husband Ken was Theatre and bar manager for some years. Well remember opening night with John Mortimer. Whole summer we had spent almost every evening and we were trying to get seating finished.
Unable to have much input after moving to Goring.
End of an era, covid has been a big contributor to lack of volunteers now
Please remember us to any old members.

It has been interesting and great fun to be a member of Woodley Players. A time for making good friends. How sad it is to have reached this situation. It must be very difficult your long standing members

Really sorry to go to the last production of Woodley Theatre. The play was very good, fantastic actors, the team that do the scenery is excellent. So sad after45 years, you will all be missed

Very sad that we have seen the last show, Two, which was brilliantly acted.
Woodley Theatre is going to be really missed.
Enjoy your retirement.
----------
We would like to thank you all for many years of varied entertainment,
some happy, some sad, but always thought provoking.
It`s always good to have a chat after the performances.
We wish you all the best for the future.
Warmest regards
Brenda & Clive Smith.

I was deeply saddened when I heard that Woodley Theatre had decided to call it a day.
I made sure I went to the last production 'Two' which was fantastic - very funny in places, sad and painful in others, but uplifting at the end - and the two actors were amazingly talented and versatile.
Having seen almost all the productions over the past several years, I have always been greatly impressed by the commitment, hard work, talent and professionalism of everyone involved - for example, some of the stage sets have been ingenious and wonderful.
The standard has always been exceptionally high.
I have experienced the full range of emotions during Woodley Theatre's productions. I will always remember the shows fondly and be forever grateful to have seen them.
Thank you Woodley Theatre - it was a pleasure and a privilege.

Is This The End
The show had finished, and the curtains close.
What will become of us, no one really knows.
Who are we, the behind the scene crew.
We are the people, they never knew.
We provide the scenery, lighting and sound.
For every production, we’ve been around.
The actors and directors are great, we know.
But I think our united efforts really make the show.
Graham’s in charge and does an awful lot.
To ensure that all requirements are got.
The Committee were lucky to have one like he.
For he is as dedicated as one can be.
Tony was in charge of music and sound.
He is a very useful guy to have around.
The music provides a great atmosphere
And the sound effects are very clear.
Stuarts role, is as important as can be
He’s the fella who makes the coffee and tea.
Without refreshments we would all flag.
Tempers would flare and we’d loose our rag.
For construction and carpentry, Del’s the man.
Every tool we need is carried in his van.
About Health and Safety he may be insistent.
But his dedication to each show is consistent.
Finally there’s Ed. I must be careful what I say.
I don’t want to enhance my role in any way.
But I’ve enjoyed building sets and driving the van
And generally helping out wherever I can.
But now the Set Builders work is done.
We have all enjoyed our days, every single one.
But we must not be sad and blue
For together we shall seek adventures new.
