In October1850, handsome but penniless Morris Townsend comes to the house in Washington Square, where shy, gauche but potentially wealthy Catherine Sloper lives with her father, Dr.Austin Sloper. Morris sets out to woo Catherine who falls in love with him. Her father, who has a low opinion of his daughter's attractiveness to men, dismisses Morris as a fortune hunter, and threatens to disinherit Catherine if she marries him. Is the threat real? Will Catherine submit? Will Morris prove true, or is he, indeed, only after her money?
The Heiress is a powerful and dramatic story of love, cruelty and revenge, which will keep audiences guessing until the end.
There are male and female parts for a range of ages. Come along to the read-through and find out more!
