A Streetcar Named Desire

By Tennessee Williams

Performance dates: Tuesday 18th - 22nd June

When fading southern belle Blanche DuBois, arrives to stay with her sister, Stella, in the vibrant and boisterous city of New Orleans, post WW2, her ideals and delusions of grandeur bring her to conflict with Stella's brutish and crude husband, Stanley. Her arrival in New Orleans does little for Blanche's nerves, fuelled by her volatile relationship with her brother-in-law, her fragile sense of identity begins to crumble, threatening to destroy her sanity and her one last chance for happiness. This classic, Southern play by Tennessee Williams questions the idea of fantasy's inability to overcome reality and looks at the dependency of attraction and desire.
