Audition: Entertaining Angels
Performance Dates 16 to 20 February 2016
Rehearsals Mon, Tues and Thurs starting approx. 15th December 2015
Entertaining Angels by Richard Everett, the opening play of our 2016 season, is a gentle, quintessentially English bittersweet comedy is set in a vicarage garden.
As a vicar's wife, Grace has spent a lifetime on her best behaviour. Now, after the death of her husband Bardolph, she can enjoy the new-found freedom of being able to do and say exactly what she wants. But the return of her eccentric missionary sister, Ruth, together with some disturbing revelations, forces Grace to confront the truth of her marriage.
Auditions will be held in the Oakwood centre on 28th October at 7.45
Grace, aged 60’s, the Vicars’ widow, energetic, fluent and witty with a nice line in sarcasm
Sarah, aged 30’s, pleasant and grounded, nice sense of humour, who will take over the house as the new Vicar
Ruth, Grace’s sister, of similar age. A missionary. Has more warmth and humour than her sister, and less bite
Jo, Grace’s daughter, aged 30’s, a very good foil for her mother, and not at all cowed
Bardolph, the deceased Vicar, an elderly man of pleasant aspect, who can be seen and heard only by Grace
While Grace is the major role, there are some stonking ensemble pieces for the women. Hope to see you there!!
